Assimilation
What is assimilation in speech therapy?
When one sound in a word changes to match another sound in the same word. "Dog" becomes "gog" because the D changes to match the G. Also called consonant harmony.
Example
"Dog" becomes "gog" (the "d" changes to match the "g").

📅 Typical Timeline: Usually resolves by age 3
How can I help my child with assimilation?
Clear, isolated vehicle sounds help children hear the distinct sounds in each word.
