Bilingual Language Development
What is bilingual language development in speech therapy?
When a child learns two (or more) languages simultaneously or sequentially. Bilingualism does NOT cause language delays—bilingual children reach milestones at the same pace as monolingual children. Total vocabulary across both languages is what matters.
Example
A child who speaks Spanish at home and English at daycare, or a toddler learning both languages from birth.
